Frequently Asked Questions
Over the years we have received excellent questions from our members that come up more than once. Below are some of these and the answers we’ve shared. Hopefully they’ll help you as you continue to develop your fruit growing skills!
Dr. Bob Norton Memorial Orchard
We have an orchard?
Yes! The club established this orchard at Sunrise Ridge to commemorate the dedication of the club’s founder, Dr. Bob Norton. We rent the space from the Sunrise Ridge organization and are very grateful for the opportunity. For more information on the orchard and learn when you can come and check it out, please see here.
Netting
Do you have any recommendations for how to net my very large (humongous!) cherry / plum / etc. tree?
Concede all but the lowest branches to the birds and consider taking down the tree’s height over time so that netting is manageable in the future. Fun fact: Dr. Bob Norton shot and hung “Scout” the crow in the corner of his orchard to serve as a scarecrow!

Answer
Annual Summer Picnic and Salmon BBQ
Are dogs allowed at the picnic?
We love dogs! Unfortunately, they also like to eat our deliciously bbq’d food so, unless they’re a service animal, no, dogs are not permitted at this event.
Should we bring a picnic blanket or chairs?
No, we will have tables and chairs for everyone. If you’d prefer to sit on a blanket on the ground, go for it!
