Please join the Matsuda Farm team for an introductory class on Agroforestry at the Land Trust building on Monday, May 19th from 12pm to 1pm. Bring your brown bag lunch, and the farm team will have dessert and coffee. Please RSVP (email elena@vashonlandtrust.org) if you would like a slice of flan ;)!
We will discuss agroforestry, how it is applied in the PNW, and potential applications for local farms, forestlands, and restoration. If there is interest, we will organize visits to evaluate the agroforestry potential of working farms and orchards.
Our facilitator, Carrie Brausieck, is the Executive Director of Agroforestry NW and the Interim Executive Director of Kulshan Carbon Trust. Through her roles, Carrie works to advance agroforestry, biocultural restoration, and other nature-based solutions in WA State. She is passionate about agroforestry and biocultural restoration as solutions to competing land use issues, climate adaptation and mitigation, and working land resilience. Carrie’s education and specialties are in environmental management and policy, agroforestry, environmental anthropology, agroecological systems, and creative ecology.
