Dr. Bob Norton Memorial Orchard Guidelines

We hope you’ll consider joining our team of volunteers at Dr. Bob Norton Memorial Orchard. The orchard offers a wonderful opportunity to learn and share.

The Guidelines

Please review the following guidelines to make sure that your visit is beneficial for everyone. 

For your comfort please consider bringing:

  •  Hats

  •  Water bottles

  •  Sunscreen

  •  Personal tools-these need to be disinfected with alcohol on table by main gate.

  • Pets, if necessary, must be leashed and picked up after.

If you are planning to volunteer at the orchard, please be aware that the following activities require prior approval from the Orchard Manager:

  •  Pruning

  •  Harvesting 

  •  Propagating

  •  Soil amendment

  •  Participation in the strawberry trials, as they are tightly regulated

When weeding please be mindful of:

  • Irrigation tubing

  • Roots of adjacent fruit plants

  • Please take weeds to designated composting zones, (see signage)

It is helpful if you let a member of the Orchard team know about any of the following;

  •  Wet spots or thirsty looking plants

  •  Pest infestation or diseases.

When leaving:

  •  Please put trash, recyclables and compostable items in designated barrels.

  •  Return clean and dried tools to storage area.

  •  Make sure gate is padlocked it you are the last to leave

The Orchard Committee kindly requests visitors follow the guidelines above to ensure a positive experience for everyone and integrity of the orchard.
